Nike Air Max 95

The Air Max 95 was the first sneaker to put visible Air in the forefoot as well as the heel, and the first to build its upper around a concept rather than a colour scheme — Sergio Lozano based the layered panels on human anatomy, with the gradient shading running like muscle fibre down the sides.

That layering is why multi-colour executions work on this model specifically. The panels are already separated into distinct bands, so each one can take its own tone without the shoe looking cluttered. On a flatter silhouette the same treatment would be a mess.
